In this story she relates herself to a buzzard. Not only does she do that she also pity's herself throughout the story. When the two mixed it annoyed and pushed me away. There is a different way of writing to where she could have gotten her point across. She focused this essay on all about her. Everything she did she thought she did right but was never good enough for her father. It was just really depressing and slow. Maybe, if she would have compared herself to something other than a buzzard, the essay would have been more entertaining to read.
If I were to have to compare myslef to something, I definitely would compare it to something readers would like to hear about. Maybe something pleasant, such as a flower. Flowers don't always have to be good objects either, they shrink up and die. In my story, such as in
Buzzards, if I were going to relate myself to something bad, I could still do that through a pleasant object. This way, readers aren't so annoyed and will want to continue to read the passage. My point being that writer of Buzzards could have simply compared or contrast herself to something more intriguing than a nasty bird.

On Necklaces
I like how Grosholz makes the necklace have meaning instead of making it sounds as if it is just a object. The necklace not only decorates, it gives the face, which is the jewel in the crown of the body, a setting.
My mom had a friend who made jewelry for a living. He absolutely loved what he did for his career. He was a homosexual and no one really thought he cared what people thought about him and his personal beliefs. I never got to know this man by my mother said he was an outstanding man from his personality to his caring and loving character. But nothing in this world could beat his passion for making and designing jewelry. I don't believe he made jewelry just because he loved doing it. I think he did this because he loved making people feel good. He liked to see joy on every ones face. This is why it is hard to believe that he took his on life. Whatever the reason was though, everyone will always remember that he went by the quote "the necklace not only decorates, it gives the face, which is the jewel in the crown of the body, a setting."

My State Chamionship Ring
My state championship ring for cheerleading is something I value. It is round, very shiny, and in the very middle is a dark red stone. Surrounding this almond shaped stone are little dimonds and around that are the words "State Champions". Across the band is ingraved with "Dance-Cheer WLHS' 2008" and on both sides of these words are dimonds. This ring is beautiful, not only for the way it looks, but for it's meaning as well.
In cheering at West Lauderdale High School, there is so much devoted time. Cheerleaders can have other activities on their schedule but don't expect to attend them. Cheerleading should be third on your list ranking from 1. God, 2. School, and 3. Cheering. I think this ring that fits snug around my finger is from so much hard work and dedication to the squad. Though, without the love of this sport, and yes, cheering is a sport, there would be no dedication. Cheerleaders at West Lauderdale have to love this sport, and I mean love. Not only were our practices long and hard, the football games were pretty intense also. Football games to me, were the funnest part of cheering. I got to do what I loved, hang out with friends, and see my school in action.
I learned so much through cheering at West Lauderdale. The major things that cheering taught me will stay with me for life. Simple things like being on time and respecting others around me, i just coudn't manage to do before i became a cheerleader.
The day i finally recieved my state championship ring i was so pround. I can not explain the feeling i had. I just know that the reason i was so proud is because i knew i deserved it. Not just me, but the whole entire squad deserved to be chamions. This beautiful ring is only a symbol of all the dedication and teamwork that we put into cheering at West Lauderdale.
